Plan your day on the ice by selecting the right gear, manage your money and body heat, and compete to out-fish others in exciting ice fishing derbies set across beautifully rendered frozen lakes.
Choose from three engaging modes to enjoy your fishing adventure:
Free Fishing – Keep your equipment between trips, pick your favorite lake, and fish without time constraints. Catch fish to earn gems and unlock superior free-fishing gear over time.Open Derbies – Join competitive 5-day events starting with limited shop credits and basic gear. Strategically purchase equipment, find productive fishing spots, and aim for trophy-class fish before the derby concludes.Pro Derbies – Unlock Pro mode to access additional lakes and more fish species. Begin with greater credits, high-end gear, and the ability to drive a snowmobile to manually explore lakes and choose prime fishing locations.
Before each derby day, visit Kate’s bait shop with a modest budget and a wide selection of tempting gear. Your decisions are critical: whether to invest in a stronger rod, a bigger auger, advanced electronics, or extra bait and cocoa to stay warm. Special sales mean the optimal choice can vary daily, adding a strategic layer to your preparation.
Once on the ice, you can:
Drill holes and set up your shanty to shield yourself from the windJig bait or lures carefully to attract fish without spooking themUtilize sonar or underwater cameras (when affordable) to locate optimal depths and fish speciesMove to new spots if bites slow down, balancing time against potential bigger catches
Your character must also manage body heat. Receive warnings as you cool down, and drink cocoa, use heaters, or move around to stay warm. Ignore the cold too long, and your day—or derby—may end humorously in a chilly mishap.

Lifelike Fish and 3D Lakes

Each fish species behaves uniquely according to size and preferred depth. For example, perch and walleye tend to stay near the bottom, crappie and trout suspend higher, while predators like pike or muskies actively patrol seeking prey.
